Outreach

Outreach is a key pillar of MIDHOS’ activities. Within the network, we foster continuous dialogue between researchers, patients, and the wider public to make our work more accessible, relevant, and impactful. Through structured feedback formats, participatory activities, and co-design opportunities, we actively involve patients, relatives, and community members in shaping research processes, communication materials, and study design.

A key highlight of our outreach activities is our flagship patient event, where researchers, patients, and members of the public come together to exchange insights on recent developments, ongoing initiatives, and future directions in research.

In October 2025, the inaugural MIDHOS patient-centered event 'Erleben. Verstehen. Mitgestalten.' took place at sitem. It was agreat opportunity for exchange. The next iteration will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Sign up below for the newsletter to get updates.

We also place strong emphasis on science communication. In collaboration with communication experts, patients, and public representatives, we train researchers and early-career scientists to communicate their work clearly and effectively to non-specialist audiences. Attendees can continuously refine their ideas based on expert input, peer feedback, and lived experience perspectives. These workshops take place prior to the patient-centered events allowing participants to implement their learnings and communicate most impactfully.
