Outreach

Outreach is a key pillar of MIDHOS’ activities. Within the network, we foster continuous dialogue between researchers, patients, and the wider public to make our work more accessible, relevant, and impactful. Through structured feedback formats, participatory activities, and co-design opportunities, we actively involve patients, relatives, and community members in shaping research processes, communication materials, and study design.

MIDHOS Dialoge: Wissenschaft und Medizin. Verständlich erklärt.

MIDHOS' podcast format explores current topics in metabolism, inflammation, musculoskeletal health, and digital health through conversations with researchers and clinicians.

Our aim is to make science and medicine accessible to a larger population by explaining research in a clear and engaging way, highlighting how discoveries in the lab and clinic can shape the future of healthcare.

Erleben. Verstehen. Mitgestalten.

A key highlight of our outreach activities is our flagship patient event, where researchers, patients, and members of the public come together to exchange insights on recent developments, ongoing initiatives, and future directions in research.

In October 2025, the inaugural MIDHOS patient-centered event 'Erleben. Verstehen. Mitgestalten.' took place at sitem. It was agreat opportunity for exchange. The next iteration will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Register directly, via the QR Code below, or sign up for the MIDHOS newsletter to get updates.

We also place strong emphasis on science communication. In collaboration with communication experts, patients, and public representatives, we train researchers and early-career scientists to communicate their work clearly and effectively to non-specialist audiences. Attendees can continuously refine their ideas based on expert input, peer feedback, and lived experience perspectives. These workshops take place prior to the patient-centered events allowing participants to implement their learnings and communicate most impactfully.
